About Our Blog

In 2007 I discovered a New York Times article, entitled "He Cooks, She Stews" that basically described my life.

In short, "The Alpha" cooks most of the time, has more cooking experience, may find cooking "relaxing" and basically renders their partner "the Beta". The Beta may like to cook, but the Alpha makes it impossible, or really, really painful to do so. So, for the past 13 years I have been stuck sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of wine while I wait for my Alpha to finish and present amazing food (I know, cue the violins). The Alpha is dependent on the Beta, however. The Alpha is always looking for feedback and praise about his food. He depends on the Beta for new ideas and inspiration, in short, my Alpha cannot survive without ME!

After a year of writing this blog, our mission is clear: to demonstrate that good food can be made with little time and simple ingredients. You don't have to have a kitchen full of fancy gadgets to cook. You can be creative. Although fresh, local, organic are worthy goals, when you're cooking night after night, the use of canned beans, salmon, etc. is fine and come together into amazing meals. Being a good chef means understanding taste combinations, being confident to veer away from a recipe, and most of all, taking the time to relax and enjoy the process.

We love to eat out and are often asked about restaurants we enjoy. It's a topic I could spend hours on. We added our restaurant section to address this. We also aspire to post about local and non-local music we're enjoying and places we've enjoyed. It is our 2012 goal to do more reviews, let me know what you think.

We have had a lot of fun creating our space on the internet and hope to continue well into the future. Knowing others are enjoying this space keeps us posting, thanks!!
